  • First Aid Supplies & Terrorism

Instant cold packs are a fast and convenient product for quick ice therapy for bruises, strains and sprains.  This sports trainer staple has until recently,    contained "AN".  "AN", (Ammonium Nitrate) sadly has been used for terrorist activity. " AN" is a potential component in bomb making and explosives.
Canada, along with the US and European Union, UK, Australia and others have put considerable licensing and inventory controls on "AN" and it's distribution.
First Aid Zone is pleased to announce that all instant cold packs we sell, no longer contain Ammonium Nitrate. Our supplier has developed an alternative chemical formula that is safe. Rapid Aid, our supplier and the largest contract manufacturer of cold pack in Canada has now substituted "CAN" (calcium ammonium nitrate), a safe and stable product that has no dangerous alternative uses.  When purchasing ice packs, be sure to check the contents!

  • Our Top Uses for Trainer's Tape

Trainer's tape plays an essential role in safety and treatment in sports related injuries. It provides support to the elbow joint, wrist joint, knee joint and ankle joint. It is used to prevent and treat injuries during sports and is very popular with athletes. It is very effective in preventing and treating muscle pulls and sprains.

The tape is usually made of cotton fabric coated and is with an adhesive that contains zinc oxide. The reason zinc oxide is used is because it helps reduce or eliminate irritation. Other materials are also used to make the tapes.

Trainers tape is effective only if it is applied correctly. If it’s wound too tightly, it can impede blood circulation and make the injury worse. If it is wound too loosely, then the affected area may not get the desired benefit. Therefore, a trainer's tape has to be applied by a trained person. The good news is that anyone can learn to apply the tape effectively with some training. Continue reading
